Homestead Income Coming From Your Blog

Make A Living From Wherever You Live!

Many times I have people email me asking how they can make money on their homestead. Besides selling food products, selling soap, honey or a million other things from the production of livestock, there are many other ways too. As you know, if you read my blogs regularly, I sell online, write eBooks and make money from affiliate ads on my blogs. For me, this is the best way. I can't do the hard physical work entailed with raising the animals or harvesting a big crop. There are other ways of course. I will touch on them in some future posts. This post I'd like to recommend some ways I know for sure.

The number one best way is to write posts for a store or a particular product. You can contact some of the stores in your area to get started. I write for a local restaurant supply store in our area. I like doing it and really enjoy that type of work. These posts are not all about the store, but more about what you can do with the products you buy in their store. I learned a lot when I started writing these posts. It helped me to increase my affiliate income as an Amazon associate affiliate. I now earn more money every month from Amazon!

First sign up as an affiliate of a site that sells products you use and like. Then you can share with your readers the reasons why you like the products and how you use it. Put some photos up of how you use it or at least something that is related to it. If you are a homesteader, you can write a blog about homesteading and include affiliate links to homesteading products. It is not hard once you just start doing it.

When you write your blog posts though, don't make it sound like an advertisement. I write some posts for Blogsvertise and some of the companies want you to sound that way when they ask you to write about their company. Others are quite content with your own content that includes a link to their site. Those posts are always the best ones and get the most traffic. Your readers are not stupid! They know when you are trying to sell them.

Which brings me to some of the blogs I read that are like an advertisement all the way through. They say they are making money that way. Maybe they are. I never read their whole post because I don't care to read an ad. Do you? Would that turn you off to their blog? It does me. If one or two post is written that way, that is one thing. But not every single post! That is overkill and you can lose your readers, as well as their respect.

Targeting Affiliate Links For Your Readers

My regular readers know that I try to work on my many streams of income. I have had many of these streams of income on the back burner due to working on others. As of late, I have been really putting a lot of work into the affiliate relationships I have with various affiliate programs. It is important when choosing companies to work with that you feel they sell a quality product or service. I have some tips to share of my experience with making some extra money with affiliate marketing.

I think the best form to use for affiliate marketing is by writing a blog. Blogging is by far, the best avenue for reaching the internet public. Writing for a certain niche market, creating content that they look forward to reading every day is the key. After you have done that then develop a relationship with your readers. Be very honest with them at all times and they will put their trust in you.

The first thing I do when searching for a merchant that I would like to promote on my blogs, is to find ones that sell products that are along the same lines as my blogs. On my Solar Baby blog, I list affiliate links that have to do with solar or wind power. On my Homesteading On The Internet blog, I have mostly links to Amazon products, which I change from time to time. The products there are for anyone interested in gardening, canning, photography, etc. These are products for my readers who come there looking for homesteading or preparation information.

I have joined a few of the big affiliate type of programs like ShareASale and a couple of others. I am more comfortable with smaller programs or working directly with the merchant themselves. It is fun once you get into it, but it has taken me a few years to learn how to actually get some sales. Even little sales add to your many streams of income. Take little steps and you will get there!

Increase Your Income In 2012

Even in a rural area, you can develop many steams of income!

I am ready for the new year. 2012..........good things are on the horizon for me, I am sure. What about you? It has not always been easy for me since I am living with some stressful situations. I just try to deal with it the best I can, but do not allow it to penetrate my being.

When that happens, it would be very easy to fall into the way of others. Instead keep your mind open and focused. Keep thinking about your plans, your ideas, positive thoughts and plans only! That is what I do. If you allow others to affect you, then you will never get anything done or any success. Maybe instead.........your positive attitude will affect them! Something to think about?

I am working on so many different things. They are all the things I talked about previously on this blog. The many streams of income. I feel if I can concentrate on all these various streams...................I will have much success. Look at how someone who works a job, and only has that job for income...........and gives up at least 40 hours a week of their lives, for that measly bit of money. That is your life, and is that all it is worth? If you took that 40 hours a week and concentrated it on a variety of streams of income, you could very well, live your dreams!

Selling three eBooks, affiliate links on my blogs, renting space on my blogs to advertisers and selling guitar strings are all my streams of income. They are all independent of each other. If one does well, and the others don't, I still have some money coming in. I am adding to my streams as I can. It is not a matter of having too many irons in the fire, but a matter of having more than one way to make money. Presently I am working on another homesteading book and this one should be a bestseller. What are your plans for 2012?

FTC Blogging Disclosure

What is this page about you ask? This is another of the constraints of our wonderful FREE country. I have to and so does every other blogger in our country have to post this….. FTC needs a blogging disclosure so that my readers understand that there are times that I may be getting paid for the links in the material I write about. I also have Amazon and other links on the side of the text that I think may be of interest to my readers. I have tried to use reputable companies to affiliate myself with. As of December 1st 2009, I’m required to disclose this for the material I write on.

My text is always about me, my lifestyle, my family, my thoughts or how I did things. Sometimes I write about a subject that I didn’t actually do because a reader had contacted me with a question. Then I go out and do the research on that particular topic and write about it. Not from my own view but from my research.

I never receive anything free from any company or anyone to write a biased text. My content is usually based on my own or my husband’s opinions on business or financial matters. I do things different than most people and do not expect you or anyone to follow my example. If you want to try some of my ideas that is fine, but you need to do your own research. I will never write a good review about a product that I don’t feel deserves it. I try to be very honest in all my posts whatever the subject.

What I am trying to explain here is that I am an affiliate marketer as well as a blogger. When I choose to write about my experiences with a product and/or service, often times I will have an affiliate link attached to that product. If so when you buy that product I will get paid a small commission. It’s not much but keeps my site going. So thank you if you do click my links and make a purchase. I appreciate it.
